Wildlife Sanctuary Volunteer, Lilongwe
Volunteering at the Malawi Wildlife Sanctuary offers a unique opportunity to contribute to vital conservation efforts in Africa. This sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing injured or orphaned wildlife, including primates, antelopes, and birds. Volunteers play a crucial role in daily operations, focusing on animal care and enrichment.
The experience provides hands-on involvement in wildlife conservation while living in a beautiful natural setting, surrounded by like-minded individuals passionate about protecting Africa’s wildlife.
How do volunteers contribute?
- Animal Care and Rehabilitation: Volunteers assist in feeding, cleaning, and providing enrichment for rescued animals, helping to prepare them for eventual release back into the wild.
- Animal Monitoring: Volunteers engage in behavioral observations and monitoring, collecting essential information that informs the sanctuary’s rehabilitation and release programs.
- Habitat Maintenance: Volunteers help maintain and improve enclosures, build structures, and create enrichment tools to ensure the animals live in stimulating and safe environments.
- Environmental Conservation: In addition to working with animals, volunteers take part in broader conservation efforts, such as tree planting and habitat restoration projects within the sanctuary.
